1. Visit Ushaka Marine World, this is an aquarium and water fun park, entertaining for the entire family, the largest of its kind in South Africa. Providing a full days entertainment for the family and it has some educational value.

2. Visit any of the beaches, they are free and the weather is warm in winter and  the “Indian Ocean is warm enough to swim in”.

3. Visit Gateway Theater of Shopping, this is a large shopping center – claiming that they are the largest in the Southern Hemisphere, or you could go online and get access to the best products from around the world.

The Center has a synthetic wave machine the only one in the world with a left and right breaking wave (The Wave House). You can learn to surf or try to climb the largest indoor climbing rock in  the Southern Hemisphere, (the Rock) or take on the skateboard park or water slides and lots of other things to do.

4. Visit the restaurants in Florida road; this is a vibrant stretch of road, with clubs, pubs and restaurants a place where the young and trendy hang-out.

5. Learn to dive in Durban, go scuba diving at Aliwal Shoal in Umkomaas and dive with the sharks, this is just outside of  Durban down the South Coast about 20 minute drive from Durban.

Aliwal is very well-known around the world for the great diving conditions and you can get to dive with sharks, this is a thrill and an  experience that is unforgettable.

The sharks for some reason don’t bother scuba divers, so it is apparently safe and I have done this, it is an awesome experience, swimming along with some sharks.

Once you are in Durban, it is very easy to find a PADI Diving school in Durban and you will enjoy your Dive up the north coast of Durban.

6. Visit Crocodile Creek this is a crocodile farm unlike any other, their crocodile show and the feeding of these reptiles is a great experience for the entire family.

7. There are also a few game parks in the area, they are full of wildlife and winter would be a very good season to visit any of these parks, as the bush is not to thick and the animals are not hiding in the shade.

8. Take a trip either up or down the coast of Natal, great natural beaches, visit some of the smaller coastal towns. These small Towns are really nice and the people are very friendly, things are usually allot cheaper and this is always a relaxing experience.

9. A trip up to the Natal Midlands is very beautiful and to witness the Valley of a Thousand Hills is breathtaking. Fantastic scenery and nice clean air are all part of the formula for a very relaxing time.

10. As Gambling in now legal in South Africa, you can visit the Sun Coast and Entertainment world. This has a controlled  Gambling facility that  includes restaurants and a great entertainment center for kids.

11. The Maydon Wharf, is also a very nice place to visit, this is in the Harbor area of Durban and a great area to find a good section of restaurants and bars at the Durban Harbor.
